Gold's Gym Crowns Mr. Puniverse 2007

March 11, 2007, (Scottsdale, AZ)… America’s fitness icon, Gold’s Gym has selected its first official ‘Mr. Puniverse 2007’ Phoenix titleholder, Scottsdale native TC Mulcahy. TC was crowned on Friday, March 2, 2007 at Flicka’s Bar and Grill in Scottsdale and beat out five other finalists to receive this distinguished title. TC will be given a plan to develop more muscle and increase his fitness level throughout the year. His progress will be updated and documented regularly.

At 19 years of age, TC who is 5’9” and weighs 119 pounds, has tried in vein for years to gain weight even though he consumes between 2,000 and 3,000 calories a day. “I’m not picky about my food at all. I’ve never avoided eating something because it makes me fat or it’s unhealthy,” he laughs, noting that Chipotle and Taco Bell are a couple of his favorites. He says he’s determined to use his title as Gold’s Gym newly-appointed Mr. Puniverse to gain weight, get into shape and inspire other punies struggling with the same issues.

This contest, the first of its kind for the Phoenix area franchise, accomplished Gold’s Gym’s goals of educating people about the benefits of fitness in a humorous manner. ‘Mr. Puniverse 2007’ contestants competed in these categories: strength, cardio, posing, trivia and their 20 second plea as to why he should be crowned.

TC Mulcahy is the youngest of four and grew up in Scottsdale attending St. Daniel the Prophet Elementary and Coronado High School. He is an ASU student studying industrial design. He spends his time creating furniture, enjoying photography and on his computer. TC Mulcahy receives a free lifetime membership to Gold’s Gym, a one-year free membership for a friend or family member, personal training, Gold’s Gym fitness apparel, along with the opportunity to represent Gold’s Gym throughout 2007.
